Korea Human Performance Laboratory(KHPL)Lay a foundation for shoe performance evaluation certification systems through establishment of footwear biomechanical performance evaluation test bed (three test beds)

  • 1. Gait & Running Test Bed

    • Area:400m2
    • Composition:
      - Installation of three running track lines, spanning 28m (products approved by International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF))
      - Installation of three ground reaction force measurement systems (Large, portable, and glass)
      - Installation of 24 3D-infrared cameras

      - Building Indoor Sports environment, for basketball shoes and badminton shoes
      - Field Sports environment, including soccer and golf

    • Composition:
      - Outdoor environment, e.g. hiking shoes and outdoor walking shoes
      - Special environments, e.g. staircase gait, ramp gait
      - Slip test environment according to various floor conditions
      - Chamber for special temperature/humidity environmental settings

Gait & Running Test Bed

Performance and feature
- Dedicated walkway is provided for walking and running in footwear biomechanical performance evaluation. It serves as a test environment for developing functional footwear evaluation standards and for reliable data acquisition.
- Infrared digital 3D human - The test environment, which is a standardized bed for testing and standard development, is capable of integrating footwear motion analysis systems and ground reaction force measurement system for the dedicated walkway.
Composition
- Three dedicated walkways, spanning 28m: Tracks with products approved by IAAF
- Installation of three ground reaction force measurement systems (Large, portable, and glass)
- Installation of 24 3D-infrared cameras
- Rail structure for 3D-infrared digital camera mounting
- Test environment for footwear biomechanical performance evaluation

Sports Test Bed (Building design, construction in the latter half of 2018)

Performance and feature
- Court installation for footwear biomechanical performance evaluation in indoor sports environment, such as basketball and volleyball
- Artificial turf installation for footwear biomechanical performance evaluation in field sports environment, such as soccer and golf
- Infrared digital three-dimensional human - Evaluation of biomechanical performance of sports action through shoe motion analysis systems and ground reaction force systems
Composition
- Floor finishing similar to wood flooring materials of indoor stadiums
- Artificial turf for Soccer and futsal sports stadiums
- Ground reaction force measurement system installation
- Truss structure for 3D infrared digital camera mounting

Outdoor Test Bed

Performance and feature
- Floor installation similar to actual gait environment for slip resistance testing
- Footwear safety evaluation through slopes and stairs of various heights
- Functional evaluation, such as ventilation, cold weather by building a chamber capable of controlling external environment, such as temperature and humidity

- Floor finishing materials for various gait environments
- Slopes and stairs of various heights
- Chamber capable of temperature and humidity control
